TOBACCO V NICOTINE INTO AU as at Aug 2021

Tobacco & Nicotine products are handled very differently to each other in AU.

Tobacco and Related Products:

• Must have a valid permit to import at the time of arrival into AU or will be seized by Customs on arrival.
• Includes: Heets Sticks as they contain tobacco.
• Excludes: Cigars, SNUS, Oral Smokeless products.
• No change to this after 1/10/2021

Nicotine

• Vapes etc. that contain Nicotine as of today can be imported by individuals in quantities for personal use with no permits.
• From 1 Oct 2021 regulations are being put in place that will only allow Nicotine products for personal use if accompanied by an AU doctor's prescription or if in Commercial Quantities an Import Permit must be obtained.
